Born in Hancock County, GA, John grew up on a dairy farm near the Ogeechee River, where he still enjoys spending time (but not milking cows!). He attended Sparta High School where he played quarterback under the tutelage of Coach Curtis Segars. John graduated from UGA in 1967 and the Medical College of Georgia in 1971. Following completion of his general surgery residency and moving to Gainesville in 1976, he practiced surgery until his retirement. He has been married to Sally, his high school sweetheart, for 51 years and they have two children and four grandchildren. He loves golf, his two dogs, and music – both playing and singing. Will that love for music translate to the dance floor? You’ll have to come see him with your own eyes to find out!
